Decluttering Continues: Converting Cassettes, Digitizing & Donating

What I’m doing today. It’s been interesting doing a deep dive into stuff I have not looked at in over 30 years. And while I am pressed for time at this point, it’s been fun.

The yearbooks are gone! My friend graciously offered, then took a pic of every page of each yearbook. So awesome of her! I am taking her to the Burrito Bar for dinner this weekend to thank her (will be my last time going there).

I am also digitizing old cassettes, most of it stuff I recorded while in the Peace Corps in Lesotho in 1995. It’s amazing how well these cassettes still work, especially after making it through a lot of hot Kansas summers in my parent’s attic. I’m using a cassette converter that looks just like a Walkman, but converts the music into an MP3 file via SD card or thumb drive. I just think it’s magic. 😏 I should have done this years ago, but happy they still play. I don’t think I’ll get through all the cassettes before I go, so will take them to Spain with me (I have about 20 left to convert) and this will be a little side project. Then I will discard them once they’re converted.
